Deepika Padukone-starrer Padmavat is set to hit the screens on January 25 after months of uncertainty and violent protests that led to the controversial film’s name being changed from ‘Padmavati’.After months of protests and heated debates, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film finally certified with a ‘U/A’ rating by the CBFC.
The Examining Committee of the CBFC passed the film with a UA certificate subject to some cuts.As per the latest reports, the film is slated to release on 25 January, 2018. The film will clash with Akshay Kumar’s ‘PadMan’.
Taran Adarsh has confirmed the release date on Twitter saying, “#Padmavat to release on 25 Jan 2018… #RepublicDayWeekend”.Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film is said to be inspired by Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s Padmavat and stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles.
The magnum opus tells the tale of Rani Padmavati, the legendary Mewar queen known for her beauty and intelligence as well as courage, her husband Maharawal Ratan Singh, a Rajput warrior king who fought to defend his kingdom and wife’s honour, and Sultan Alauddin Khilji.
