Akshay Kumar has chosen a very patriotic release date for his upcoming film, Padman. The actor took to Twitter to share a new poster for the film which revealed the release date of December 26, 2018.
The film is Twinkle Khanna’s production venture in association with Gauri Shinde and is being helmed .The film is based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, who is the inventor of a low-cost sanitary pad making machine and has helped spread awareness about traditional unhygienic practices around menstruation in rural India.

Padman’ also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte who play the female leads in the film. Amitabh Bachchan will also be seen in a special cameo in the film. Written and directed by R Balki of ‘Ki and Ka’ fame, ‘Padman’ definitely looks promising with its first poster that shows Akshay Kumar on a bicycle.
In an interview to PTI in August, Twinkle had said, “Twinkle says they will be taking some creative liberties to make the film entertaining. When I wrote the book The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad (her book), I fictionalised it. So while making the film also we will be taking some creative liberties. We want to give a message but we want to make it entertaining, otherwise it won’t be interesting to watch. We are working towards it.”
Akshay was last seen with Bhumi Pednekar in Toilet Ek Prem Katha which released in August to a good business at the box office. He is also working on Gold with Mouni Roy which is about India’s first Olympic medal win as a free nation in the year 1948 at the 14th Olympic Games at London. It will release on Independence Day, 2018.
