The first song of Padmavati, starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, out on Wednesday and the makers of the film have shared a new picture from the Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film.Padmavati is easily the most-talked about upcoming movie this year,It is a Rajasthani folk song and is picturised on Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor.
The film is based on Rani Padmini, the legendary Rajput queen of the kingdom of Chittorgarh, to be played by Deepika. It also features Shahid as her husband, king Rawal Ratan Singh, and probably the most impressive of them all – the invader Alauddin Khilji, essayed with sheer ferocity by Ranveer.
Padmavati’s first song, titled “Ghoomar” is going to be released today and knowing Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s track-record, it is going to be a delight with lovely music and visuals. Deepika said, “I started preparing for this film and character several months before we started filming. But it was for the Ghoomar song that I walked onto the set as Padmavati for the first time.”“
“It has been one of the most difficult song sequences that Sanjay sir and I have shot for. The shooting of the film began with this song and I will never forget that day. I remember approaching my mark for the first shot and suddenly, I felt a chill run through my body. It was almost as if Padmavati’s soul had entered my body. That feeling still lingers and will continue for years.
Ghoomar is a traditional dance form performed by princesses and queens of Rajasthan and its moves spell grace and elegance. It involves twirling in circles and coordinated hand movements and foot work. Ghoomar is also performed by new brides when they are welcomed into their marital homes.Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film is slated to release on December 1.
